Educational video for children that talks about the third of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Good Health and Well-Being- This goal is aimed at ensuring a healthy life and well-being for all. According to data from the United Nations, millions of people die every year due to lack of access to medicine or medical care. This is why improving the health and well-being of all people on the planet is of the utmost importance, so much so that it is the third sustainable development goal. In recent decades there have been many advances that have increased life expectancy. However, more efforts are needed to eradicate some diseases and to ensure that everyone has access to an adequate healthcare system. Children’s health is especially important. The current situation is better than it was in the past, but many children still die every year from malnutrition or because they do not have access to medicine. Medicine allows us to treat some very serious diseases. For example, vaccines and treatments for malaria or hepatitis are essential to prevent thousands of people from suffering serious health problems.
This video is a very useful and interesting resource for children. It is perfect for teaching what the Sustainable Development Goals are. It is an excellent video for elementary education.

Developed by leading MΔori health advocate Sir Mason Durie in 1984, Te Whare Tapa WhΔ is a holistic model of health that describes hauora and wellbeing as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls.
These walls represent taha wairua/spiritual wellbeing, taha hinengaro/mental and emotional wellbeing, taha tinana/physical wellbeing and taha whΔnau/family and social wellbeing. Our connection with the whenua/land forms the foundation.
When all these things are in balance, we thrive. When one or more of these is out of balance, our wellbeing is impacted.
Te Whare Tapa WhΔ is about maintaining not just physical and mental health but also social and spiritual connections in order to promote good health.

Te Whare Tapa WhΔ is a MΔori health concept, it illustrates the four cornerstones of MΔori health. With its strong foundations and four equal sides, the symbol of the wharenui illustrates the four elements of MΔori well-being.
Although Te Whare Tapa WhΔ is a MΔori health concept, it equally applies to Pacific health and wellbeing.
The elements are:
β’ taha hinengaro β mental health and emotions;
β’ taha wairua β spiritual health,
β’ taha tinana β physical health, and
β’ taha whΔnau β whΔnau as the epicentre of one’s wellbeing.

Everyone is lonely at times. But chronic loneliness can make you sick. Earlier this month, US surgeon general shone a light on the problems associated with loneliness by declaring it an American epidemic. He said the growing isolation in society poses a health risk as deadly as smoking. In an 80-page report Doctor Vivek Murthy said: “We now know that loneliness is a common feeling that many people experience. It’s like hunger or thirst. ItLoneliness as dangerous as smokings a feeling the body sends us when something we need for survival is missing.”

We’ve all heard of physical and mental health, but another important aspect to our overall health and wellbeing is social health. In fact, recently in the United States, the surgeon general revealed that social isolation and loneliness just topped obesity to claim second place as one of the top three killers in America.
Humans are highly social creatures, but that doesn’t always mean that our social interactions are healthy. In this informative talk, Dr. Chelsea Shields, explains how our emotions can easily be high-jacked and then offers guidance on how to evaluate and level up our social health.
This presentation was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic, with only a limited live audience of cast and crew members. While applause has been added to the beginning and end of the video, all other aspects have intentionally remained as filmed to honor the struggle and loss experienced globally during 2020.
Wardrobe furnished by Tommaso Cardullo. Dr. Chelsea Shields is a bio-social anthropologist, placebo studies expert, and runs a local consulting business.
In her academic work, Dr. Shields focuses on the evolution and elicitation of the placebo effect outside medical contexts. She coined the concept of social susceptibility to talk about how and why our human bodies have evolved to react, adjust, and adapt to specific social rituals, relationships and communities. Her work also investigates the evolutionary mismatch of modern human hyper-sociality and the health implications of a global, digital, 24/7 social network.
In her professional work, Shields runs a research and strategy business that specializes in qualitative, quantitative, and ethnographic research as well as creative ideation, branding, and user-experience design.
Dr. Shields is also a TED Fellow, 3x TED speaker, and teaches speaker training that is focused on the 90% of communication we never talk about: the non-verbals! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Nearly 150 Bay Area high school and community college students aspiring to careers in health got a glimpse of the wide array of jobs in health care during a day-long Kaiser Permanente-sponsored Youth Career Day at Kaiser Permanente’s Garfield Innovation Center. The students and teachers came from health career preparatory programs at 8 schools and organizations around the Bay Area and Sacramento, including Oakland’s Technical High School Health Academy, Sacramento’s Health Professions High School, Contra Costa Community College, and First Place for Youth. Kaiser Permanente created the hands-on program to introduce a diverse group of young people to health careers they may not know exist. The program also provided students and instructors with guidance on what education they would need for a given career, and how to find financial aid and support services to help get there.
